Ant-Man & The Wasp Extra Features: 10 Things We Learned

6. The Movie Has Way More CGI Than You Know

Watching Ant-Man and the Wasp, you have no idea quite how many subtle visual effects are in the movie.

For instance, you probably just assumed that Scott's apartment was some random, existing apartment leased by the production for the duration of the shoot, but the behind-the-scenes footage reveals that things were far more complex than that.

Indeed, a real location was used for the interior scenes, but the memorable early sequence where Scott, Cassie (Abby Ryder Fortson) and Luis (Michael Pena) are playing outside? It was a set custom-built created in Atlanta's Pinewood Studios, thanks to the huge backlot they have available there for shooting exterior scenes.

Furthermore, most of the skyline and outside detail was added in post-production, with only the physical back of the house and the immediate surroundings being tangible on-set objects.

Similarly, the Stan Lee cameo and several other sequences are revealed to have been shot with a blue screen, yet for the most part there aren't any of the usual CGI giveaways in the final movie, such as blurry digital outlines around the actors.

It's all a totally seamless illusion in the final film, and a massive testament to the mind-boggling craft that goes into these movies which most people don't ever think about. Crazy.
