Breaking down the weirdest Ant-Man movie yet.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is out now, and while reviews for the superhero threequel have been deservedly very mixed, this is without question the weirdest Ant-Man movie to date, and also one of the strangest MCU films ever.

It is a film packed with choices alright, ranging from totally bizarre and highly questionable ones to delightfully deranged and unexpected ones.

For all of its faults, it at least keeps up a snappy pace as it moves from one oddball scenario to the next inside of the Quantum Realm.

The filmmakers were evidently given the green light to realise their freakiest, wackiest ideas on screen, and while Quantumania is ultimately a spectacularly uneven, messy mixed bag of a movie, it's at least teeming with WTF moments you won't soon forget.

The worst thing a movie can be is boring, and at least for the most part the third Ant-Man film is anything but that.

It is a profoundly weird blockbuster, and that'll hopefully be enough to prevent it from disappearing into the cultural ether once the smoke surrounding its release has cleared...

21. Scott Has Dinner With Agent Woo

Quantumania gets one of its biggest low-key laughs out of the way in the film's first few minutes, when we see Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) reflecting on his post-Endgame life, where he's celebrated in the general public as a beloved Avenger.

This leads to a fleeting yet hilarious cameo from FBI Agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park), who memorably fanboy-ed over Scott in the previous Ant-Man movie and even awkwardly attempted to invite him for dinner after his house arrest ended.

And that gag pays off quite wonderfully at the start of Quantumania when we see Scott and Jimmy out for dinner. To make it even better, their bill is paid for by a grateful couple dining nearby. What a bromance.
