1. Romulus & Remus
And finally, when Arthur and Mera arrive in Sicily, they solve a puzzle allowing them to progress on their quest for the Trident of Atlan.
After discovering a bottle with a map in the bottom, they realise that placing it in the hands of a King Romulus statue will point to the next destination on their convoluted fetch quest.
In addition to Romulus being the first King of Rome, his story feels especially analogous to Aquaman because, of course, he famously feuded with - and eventually killed - his own brother, Remus.
Thankfully Aquaman didn't require Arthur to commit fratricide against his own half-kin, but even so, the parallels speak for themselves.
