Aquaman: 23 WTF Moments
11. Let's Not Allow A Load Of Senseless Killing... Until We Do
The climactic battle is a spectacle the likes of which most comic book movie fans won't have seen before. It's almost up there with the Lord Of The Rings in terms of the sheer number of characters on scene at one time.
The problems with that sequence start with the fact that an entire race - the Brine - are introduced out of pretty much nowhere to boost the numbers in the scene. We're supposed to care that they're being massacred by King Orm's combined army, but we've literally not met them up to this point, so it's hard to really care.
It's a similarly callous disregard for the value of life as Aquaman's army show when they turn up to defeat Orm. The whole point of the film is to stop a war that would lead to lots of senseless killing, but Arthur seems a little too delighted to kill countless Orm guys up until the point Mera tells him there's been enough killing. And, in fact, beyond that point.
At no point does he seem to care that he's killing hundreds of his own people who are simply serving their ruler with no choice. It's not like they're Nazi volunteers or anything.
