Aquaman: 23 WTF Moments

10. Black Manta's Dagger

Aquaman Black Manta
Warner Bros.

Right at the start of the film, we're introduced to the idea that normal land-lubber steel does nothing to Aquaman. His skin is so strong that it simply cannot be penetrated, so Black Manta's swords are of no use against him. It takes Manta getting access to Atlantean steel to be able to do any harm to him.

But that's all thrown out of the window in the interest of some poetic justice. Early on, Manta is given a dagger by his father that belonged to his grandfather - a legendary pirate figure who scavenged the seas and was called Manta because of his fearsome reputation. The dagger is an heirloom and it makes sense that Manta would want to use it to kill Aquaman after he stood by and watched his father die.

But at no point is it established that the dagger is made of Atlantean steel. It's just a normal dagger and yet Manta is able to stab him as if it was. It might well be made of a special metal, but it's the kind of detail that you'd like to be actually mentioned at some point.
