Aquaman: Every Moment Pulled Straight From The MCU
5. Arthur's Whole Arc (Iron Man)
To say that there are a few similarities between Jason Momoa's portrayal of Arthur Curry and Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of Tony Stark would be generous. In both cases, the characters serve as breakout roles in which the charismatic actors essentially just get to play slightly exaggerated versions of themselves.
But perhaps more directly, Arthur Curry essentially gets the same character arc in this film as Tony Stark did in the first Iron Man.
In Iron Man, Tony Stark starts out as a happy-go-lucky guy who couldn't care less about the damage he's causing by selling weapons. Obadiah Stane takes advantage of his lack of caring and makes things even worse, but after an up-close encounter with the underside of the things, Stark learns to care about others and the casualties of his actions. He comes to terms with not only his heritage but also reclaims his legacy, ending the film by proclaiming himself to be Iron Man.
In Aquaman, Arthur Curry is a happy-go-lucky guy who couldn't care less about the damage he's causing by ignoring his rightful spot on the throne of Atlantis. Orm takes advantage of his lack of caring and makes things even worse, but after an up-close encounter with the underwater kingdom, Arthur learns to care about others and the casualties of his actions.
He comes to terms with not only his heritage but also reclaims his legacy, ending the film by proclaiming himself to be Aquaman.
