Aquaman: Every Moment Pulled Straight From The MCU

3. The Gladiator Fight And Aftermath (Thor: Ragnarok)

After Arthur returns to Atlantis, he is quickly captured by his half-brother Orm, who tells him the only way to challenge him for the throne is through combat. This leads to them having a gladiator-esque battle in front of an entire stadium full of Atlantians, in a moment that is, visually, entirely too reminiscent of Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok.

In that film, Thor shows up to Sakaar and is forced to fight the reigning champion, who just-so-happens to be Hulk. The two characters are forced to fight before a stadium-sized audience until Thor is defeated. In Aquaman, Arthur and Orm fight until Arthur is defeated and nearly killed.

But what's equally worth noting is that in this sequence in Aquaman, Arthur's trusty trident is destroyed, leaving him without his weapon, just as Thor's hammer was destroyed in Ragnarok. In both films, this leads to the heroes having to learn that they are more than their weapons and finding the strength within themselves to overcome obstacles.

That is until both of them inevitably get bigger, more badass weapons.
