Poor taste jokes aside, the death of Maria Cruz is hands down the most savage kill in the movie.

Cruz, like most of the other characters, wasn't what anyone would call complex. But, she was likeable and felt genuine, which is all that matters. She was a decent person who unfortunately met a very indecent demise.

After her conversation with Ward, there is moment - just a moment - where you can't help but feel that something truly awful is about to happen. As the moment passes and the elevator doors open, that feeling manifests into a brutal reality faster than you can even blink.

It's the nature of Cruz's death that earns it the number one spot here.

You expect for her to be bitten, as would happen in any zombie movie, but no, instead her neck gets twisted a full 180 degrees; forcing a bone to pop out of her skin. It is visceral to the point where you can almost feel it.

Martin's death to the zombie tiger was savage, but in a fun way. Cruz's death though? There was nothing enjoyable about this. It just simply hurt
