I remember reading in the moths prior to AC III's release, again thanks to the newly improved AnvilNext engine, that the various outfits and costumes on show in AC III would boast a much higher thread count than in the previous games in the franchise. "Yeah, yeah", I honestly thought, "Who cares?" Well, it turns out that
this actually does make a huge difference to the overall presentation of the game. Think about it; what's the first thing you look at in a period drama, after maybe the setting itself? That's right, the
costumes. And believe me if you haven't played it, the costumes in AC III - thanks entirely to this new and improved thread count - look astonishingly real, real enough to touch almost. And the effect of that on encouraging you to suspend your disbelief for the story simply can't be stated enough. Again, not the
whole reason for this article's bold claim but definitely an important factor in the sum of its parts.
