Assassin's Creed 3: 10 Improvements That Make It The Best In The Series

7. Free Running

Despite the fact that, sure, there's nothing hugely unique about AC III's free running mechanic when compared to the last few games, there have been some subtly, almost invisible improvements that help the game maintain that smooth, satisfying flow that quickly became its main draw. Essentially, it's much more accurate. Returning AC fans will have too many frustrating memories of the times they accidentally jumped in a river while chasing a felling mark; or jumped left instead of straight ahead when running the rooftops, falling spectacularly to the ground and ending up with half health. Now I'm not saying this hasn't happened to me in AC III, not at all, I'm just saying it seems to happen with much less regularity. And while I'd love to say that I'm just that badass at Assassin's Creed by now, I feel I must pass along some of the credit to Ubisoft for taking the time to improve on what was already a highly satisfying mechanic.
