5. Combat
I've heard it said that AC III's combat system has been grossly over-simplified compared to the previous games and while I'd agree that it's been streamlined, it still has a depth and intuitiveness that makes me place it up there with the likes of Batman: Arkham City in terms of satisfaction yielded. You can't attack each enemy in the same way; some will block; some will counter; some have un-counterable moves and of course, some will shoot at you from a few paces back. Each different type of enemy requires a different strategy and the newly included dual-wield system, while maybe not being as in-depth that I'd initially hoped, adds further texture to the overall system. While playing through AC III, I found myself, much like Alex Hutchinson had promised, utilising almost every button on the controller on a regular basis. Sure, I never struggled to win many melees, but that's not to say I didn't feel sufficiently challenged throughout. I really can't see what the complaining is about; Assassin's Creed has always had an awesome combat system and for me, it's improved with every full title, culminating of course in AC III.
