9. Jemaine Clement Plays A Marine Biologist
Of the many famous faces that show up in Avatar 2, perhaps the most surprising and unexpected of all is Flight of the Conchords legend Jemaine Clement, who inexplicably appears in the second half of the film as marine biologist Dr. Ian Garvin.
Given that the film was shot in New Zealand, it makes sense that a number of Kiwi actors would appear, but even so, it was a little jarring to see Clement - a performer known primarily for his comedy work - playing a part in an Avatar movie.
It certainly wasn't a bad thing, though - more of a pleasant, if weird, surprise. And to make it even stranger, he's playing an American, not a Kiwi.
