Steve Rogers wasn't the only Avenger who was almost sent after a different stone in Endgame. As Cap was almost sent to Vormir, Iron Man himself, rather than Rocket, was almost sent to Asgard with Thor to help retrieve the Aether from the poor, unsuspecting Jane Foster.

We don't know if Stark would have used the same extract and run strategy that Rocket ultimately employed, but we do know we would have seen a brand new Iron Man suit, as well as the metal man taking on another hero in battle.

One thing that Thor and Rocket's trip to Asgard didn't include was what Heimdall was doing at the time. The character is able to see all, so surely he would have had questions for a second Thor and a talking raccoon showing up on his planet? In this version of the movie, Idris Elba's character would have had a small role, and it would have been up to Tony Stark to defeat him before he could get his hands on the Reality Stone.

Thanks to what has been described as a stealth suit, Iron Man's fight with Heimdall would have certainly been unique, and a fun opportunity to see Elba in the MCU once again Ultimately however, it is probably better that we saw Stark reunite with Rogers in New York instead.
