Avengers 2: 10 Things You Need To Know About New Characters

10. Ultron's Made Of What?

In the comics, Ultron has gone through numerous incarnations, constantly rebuilding and upgrading himself. When Ultron-6 came along, he incorporated something new into his construction that has since become almost a staple for the character€”the indestructible metal known as adamantium. In fact, the very first reference to adamantium in Marvel Comics was in regards to Ultron€™s outer shell back in the 1960s. Of course, since then the metal has become more recognized as the substance bonded to Wolverine€™s skeleton and claws. Given its very close association with Wolverine and the fact that the movie rights to the X-Men and all related characters and concepts are currently held by 20th Century Fox, this could mean that adamantium is included with that. Which would mean Ultron€™s body in the film couldn€™t be made from the same metal. Or adamantium could be in one of those gray areas, much like Quicksilver (who appeared in X-Men: Days of Future Past and will appear in Age of Ultron but without reference to being a mutant or Magneto€™s son). If the filmmakers can€™t use adamantium, they may choose another Marvel-specific metal€”vibranium. It€™s likely that will be the case, since Captain America€™s shield in the comics is a mix of adamantium and vibranium, but in the movies it€™s only vibranium. And given how rare the metal is, that could pave the way for another important element for future movies. In the comics, the most abundant source of vibranium on the planet is the African nation of Wakanda, ruled by the Black Panther.
