This dream pairing have, separately, been responsible for two of the most successful movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. Whedon wrote and directed the first Avengers movie while Gunn wrote and directed Guardians of the Galaxy. As a result, it's pretty obvious that they'd make one hell of a team if they collaborated for a movie - which is what has been rumoured in this instance - which could potentially include characters from both of the movies they have already directed in this continuity. Whedon's writing is consistently brilliant - his dialogue is second to none - and Gunn has come from nowhere to become a highly-acclaimed director in recent years, having previously been more of a writer, producer and actor.
