Avengers 4: 10 Rumours We Hope Aren't True

5. Loki Survived His Encounter With Thanos

Given that's there's already confirmation of a Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel and a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, not all of the deaths in Infinity War will stick, but one that should is Loki's. There was certainly a finality about his demise, and his efforts to put up a fight marked a satisfying end for the character.

None of that, however, has quelled the fan speculation about the god of mischief's chances of surviving his encounter with Thanos. Some have even claimed Thor's adoptive brother disguised himself as another character and slipped off the ship - an argument Screen Rant analyses here - which ultimately makes no sense considering we saw him die. Others have pointed out that he's basically a god, and may be alive regardless of how lifeless Thanos left him.

Such theories seemed to gain a degree of credence when leaked set photos appeared to show Tom Hiddleston shooting scenes for Avengers 4, but given that the movie will almost certainly involve time travel, this proves nothing.

With any luck, Loki's involvement in the sequel is merely the result of time travel, because Infinity War's opening scene marked an appropriate end for the character's arc.
