Avengers 4: 6 Dead Characters Who Will Definitely Appear

5. Loki

His Death: Avengers: Infinity War. After attempting to kill Thanos with a nifty knife trick, Loki is grabbed by the neck and strangled to death in front of his brother.

His Avengers 4 Role: Even before Infinity War opened, Loki's place in Avengers 4 was being discussed among fans. In late 2017, paparazzi snaps were released from the set of Avengers 4 in Atlanta, showing Tom Hiddleston dressed in his Loki garb from the first Avengers movie.

This was one of the first indicators that Avengers 4 would feature a plot heavy on time travel/flashbacks/alternate timelines, and since then, evidence supporting this idea has only stacked up, and it seems certain to be the case.

With Hiddleston sporting his 2012 Avengers clothes (Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans have also been snapped in their old outfits too), it looks like the Battle Of New York will be revisited in some way. Maybe the Avengers who survived the snap must venture back in time to gather the Infinity Stones for themselves, or destroy them.

It's also worth mentioning that Hiddleston has played coy when quizzed about Loki's possible return, which could mean he may even come back to life - not just as a flashback or trip to the past.

Loki is arguably the most beloved character in the entire MCU, and it's reasonable to assume Marvel will take any opportunity to give him another appearance.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
