Avengers 4: 6 Dead Characters Who Will Definitely Appear

Which pre-snap victims will we see in the upcoming sequel?

Avengers: Infinity War forever changed the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with its cliffhanger ending setting the stage for a truly spectacular Avengers 4.

When it finally releases next year, the as-yet untitled sequel has a lot on its plate. Not only does it have to address the events of Infinity War in a satisfying way, it has to be a strong individual movie in its own right, and act as the culmination of the 21 previous MCU films leading up to it.

One way it's going to accomplish the latter is by featuring a boatload of characters - even more than Infinity War's vast roster. The snap survivors will obviously play a key role - as will the snap victims, who are all expected to return - and on top of that, the movie will also include a few familiar faces who perished before Thanos' genocidal finger-click, whether in Infinity War itself, or in an earlier MCU entry.

Whether these characters return via time travel, a flashback, or some form of resurrection, expect to see the following six "dead" faces when you catch Avengers 4.

6. Howard Stark

His Death: Captain America: Civil War. Near the end of the film, a CCTV tape revealed that Howard and his wife, Maria, were killed by The Winter Soldier in December 1991.

His Avengers 4 Role: Just as the Avengers 4 reshoots were getting underway in early September, reports emerged that actor John Slattery - who played older Howard Stark in Iron Man 2, Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War - had been on the film's set, shooting some scenes with Robert Downey Jr.

Since the movie is expected to incorporate Tony's BARF technology in some way, there's a good chance Howard will appear as some sort of vision/memory in his son's mind. Plus, with Avengers 4 possibly concluding Tony's story, an emotional goodbye with his father - which, if you think back to Civil War, is something he regrets not getting - would certainly be a fitting scene.

Around the time Slattery's involvement in Avengers 4 was reported, it was mentioned that his scenes could be left out of the film, so we'll have to see if he makes the final cut.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
