Current Status: Dusted

His Avengers 4 Fate: The unprecedented success of Black Panther's solo movie meant that his death in Infinity War was one of the most shocking of the lot. That success also means that he's guaranteed a sequel, and there's absolutely no way he won't make it out of Avengers 4 alive (the same can also be said of supporting characters like Shuri, M'Baku and Okoye).

While T'Challa is dusted though, Shuri could well become temporary ruler of Wakanda (assuming she survived too).

She won't become the Black Panther, mind - Chadwick Boseman just had his own movie, and to give someone else the mask so soon could slightly undercut him - but the Wakandan people will need someone to lead them, and in a time of crisis (holding ceremonies like ritual combat will be the last thing people are concerned with after half the universe vanishes), Shuri is the logical choice.

And because T'Challa is now so popular, he'll have a huge role in the battle once he returns from being dusted. His strength, agility and smarts make him one of the best fighters in the roster, and he's bound to get a few "hero" moments, considering the filmmakers now know that Black Panther = money.
