Avengers 4: Predicting The Fate Of Every Avenger

8. Banner/Hulk

Thor Ragnarok Hulk
Marvel Studios

Current Status: Alive on Earth

His Avengers 4 Fate: Avengers 4 will be the conclusion of a three-film arc for Bruce Banner/Hulk, after Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War. That in mind, we can expect a sense of finality from his story in the film, something that ties up the arc he's been on for the last two movies.

Hulk is definitely coming out in Avengers 4, and as touched on previously, Natasha is the likely candidate to make that happen. Whether she uses a similar tactic to the one she applied at the end of Age Of Ultron (pushing him from a height) or she ends up in danger which forces the Hulk to save her, expect the on-and-off-again pair to have a crucial subplot across the movie.

As for the conclusion of Hulk's arc, there's one certain outcome that Ragnarok and Infinity War are pointing towards: the "merging" of Banner's two personalities. This would result in a version of the Hulk with the smarts of Banner (the beginnings of which we saw in Ragnarok, where Hulk is shown speaking proper sentences) which will be the MCU's permanent version of the character going forward.

Hulk got his ass beat by Thanos, but with Banner's cleverness added into the mix, he'll be a much deadlier foe during combat. Of course, Marvel could split Banner/Hulk back into themselves further down the line, but that's an arc for another movie.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
