His Avengers 4 Fate: Doctor Strange is the only Avenger who knows what lies ahead, with his use of the Time Stone granting him a look at Avengers 4's events.

Because of this, it's all-but guaranteed he'll have a big role to play when he returns. He's seen the future where the Avengers ultimately win, and if he didn't have a part to play in that... how could he see it? The Time Stone surely only shows the future of the wielder, and not some random scenario they're not a part of.

Maybe don't expect Doctor Strange to use the Time Stone much in Avengers 4 - Thanos has it anyway, and it could become an annoying trope if it's always used to save the day - but perhaps do expect a moment where he and Tony reach a mutual understanding and respect of one another. Infinity War mostly put them at odds, so it makes sense to bring that mini-arc full circle and have them both see eye-to-eye.

Post-Avengers 4, Doctor Strange will absolutely be on the new Avengers roster, given his unique powerset and all-round strength.
