9. Ultron Awakens
As its title makes plainly obvious, the movies chief threat comes courtesy of rogue AI Ultron. The creation of Hank Pym aka Ant-Man in the original comics, Ultron has been a thorn in side of the Avengers team for almost fifty years now and was Joss Whedons villain of choice before the first Avengers movie was even released. The man responsible for Ultrons creation in the sequel is Tony Stark, whose efforts to harness the potential of the Infinity Stone locked in Lokis sceptre have dramatic consequences for all concerned. Ultrons birth, as he gains sentience, is a tricky moment handled with trademark assurance by Whedon. Starting on a black screen, the disembodied, confused voice of Ultron can be heard as Jarvis appears on screen in a puff of orange. What follows is a conversation between the two that escalates into conflict as Ultron trawls through Starks database and the Internet to make sense of who and what he is. The scenes a fast-moving blur of images and footage of the Avengers that segues into an exploration of mankinds flaws and foibles as Ultron discovers for himself the war-swept world hes been designed to safeguard. Naturally, he has other ideas.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
