Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Plotholes That Almost Ruin It
1. "Fine, I'll Do It Myself!"
The decision to include Thanos as the mid-credits sequence wasn't the most fan-pleasing, but it actually did serve a narrative purpose in the grand scheme of things. Marvel don't want anyone to forget that the Avengers films are hurtling towards Infinity Wars and the purple alien's big moment, and giving up a stinger to any individual character might distract from that.
Not to mention, it would be like a father choosing a favourite son to get more attention.
But all function aside, the stinger made no sense. Thanos addresses the camera in mock exasperation, resolving to "do it himself", as if his latest underling has failed him. Clearly he's lost the plot: Thanos never actually had a dog in this particularly fight.
Yes, he might have been working with someone at HYDRA, but he can't have been working with them fully as they failed to hand him the Infinity Stone they had. And he wasn't in cahoots with Ultron, because he didn't exist until he was specifically created in this film.
So who is Thanos talking to exactly? Who has failed him this time? The answer, oddly, is no-one.
