Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Reasons It's The Weirdest MCU Movie Ever

6. Ultron Is Too... Comical?

It might seem ridiculous to suggest that Ultron, perhaps the most interesting MCU villain to have graced cinema screens since Loki, wasn't "right" - but it's kind of true. That's to say, the Ultron of the trailers seemed to embrace a sense of humour whilst remaining entirely terrifying at the same time; despite his take on that famous Pinocchio tune, he still looked - you know - cruel and sinister. The Ultron of the movie? Well, he wasn't that intimidating at all. There were flashes of "evil," of course, but for the most part Whedon's villain seemed intent on cracking gags, quoting other people, and making self-aware meta references. It was hard to know how to feel about him as a result; his evil plan was super evil, after all, but James Spader rendered him a bit... silly? Not his fault, of course, because the writing pegged Ultron is such. But his personality didn't seem at all attuned to the levels of chaos he was intent on unleashing.
