Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruin It

8. Stark And Banner Are Unbelievably Stupid (Multiple Times)

So they set up the general idea that at some point between movies, Stark and Banner were working on a previous project named Ultron, although it's not until now where the former details what that actually meant i.e. artificial intelligence and a "suit of armour around the world." At this junction in the movie, Banner quite rightly questions Tony as to the appropriateness of 1. Giving birth to a fully self-aware artificial intelligence, and 2. Not telling the team of the potential backfire. In response Tony quite literally just says he "doesn't want to hear the "man shouldn't meddle with metal medley" which although it rolled off the tongue in the script meetings, is precisely the reason why this sort of age-old tale has to be handled with the utmost care. Just because during this moment Downey Jr. gets all wide-eyed and the score underpinning his dialogue does the whole "Hey, he's onto something!"-style genius cue, it doesn't make it so. That's not even the worst of it either, later in the movie after so much destruction and death has occurred, Stark once again tries to convince Banner the only solution is to create a more powerful A.I. that can defeat Ultron at his own game - something sadly far too reminiscent of his "Having a stick bigger than the other guy" life lesson he supposedly learnt in the first Iron Man flick. In the end it's impossible to root for these guys more than it is to just scratch your head and go "Come ON", and when Tony states the reason they should endanger the entire planet is because they're a couple of loveable mad scientists well... they've officially ran out of ways to make it sound believable.
