Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 11 Implications For Captain America: Civil War

3. Iron Man & Hawkeye Leave The Avengers

At the end of the movie, Tony Stark once again decides to retire from The Avengers, and though it naturally won't be for good, it's crucial in distancing him from the outfit that Captain America will now be commanding. The same is essentially true of Hawkeye, who leaves to spend time with his family, and though that would actually be a pretty reasonable, permanent send-off for the character, it's already confirmed that he'll be appearing in Civil War. What their departure from the team suggests is that they'll most likely be teaming up in Civil War, and considering that The Hulk and Thor will most likely be sitting this one out, it means they'll need to find some powerful buddies to rub shoulders with if they want to stand a chance against Rogers' dream team. Though Hawkeye has a certain loyalty to Black Widow, his motivation to side with Stark in this sense seems obvious: he's driven by a desire to protect his wife and three kids.
