Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 15 Obscure Easter Eggs You Probably Missed
8. The Iron Samurai?
Much like Batman's cave having a trophy room, it can be reasonably expected that the Avengers would keep some momentos of their past adventures. While a detailed look at the base was notably absent from the film (probably thanks to run-time restrictions) some shots did reveal some intriguing details.
Chief among them is the samurai costume on show, which was revealed in pre-effects footage on ABC before the film was released. Could it be a reference to the link between The Avengers and the Seven Samurai? That seems more likely than it being a nod to Silver Samurai (an Avengers foe at times), given that he has already appeared in Wolverine's universe.
There's also the possibility that the Samurai suit is a nod back to a creative inspiration for Iron Man 2, and the influence of Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Samurai Jack:
“In terms of a particular scene, I agree the fight where Iron Man and War Machine team up to battle the Hammer drones was a big challenge. We started with some terrific pre-visualisation that had been created by Genndy Tartakovsky.”
