Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Biggest Surprises That Will Get Fans Talking

2. That Mid-Credits Sting

By this point, the bane of all comic book movie fans' existence (and that of every usher in a cinema that shows comic book movies) are mid and post-credits scenes. The first Iron Man film has taught audiences to expect a little titbit once the proper film has finished, to the point that they appear now even in non-superhero flicks. Some of them are really good; Iron Man had Nick Fury invoking the Avengers name in the first place; the first Avengers introduced shawarma to the masses. Oh, and it also gave the first MCU appearance to Thanos, the cosmic tyrant who's almost certainly going to be the main antagonist of the two Avengers: Infinity War films and appeared properly in Guardians Of The Galaxy. Even in that latter film he was mostly a hands-off character thought, despite having feted character actor Josh Brolin in the role. This slow burn made the Age Of Ultron mid-credits scene all the more surprising: Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet and announcing he's gonna have to get the Stones himself. So, there's your set up to Infinity War: no more sending Loki or Ronan to do the job for him. Thanos has the Avengers in his sights.
