Avengers: Age Of Ultron - 10 Biggest Surprises That Will Get Fans Talking

5. S.H.I.E.L.D. Still Being In Existence

Okay, so this one will have been less of a surprise to people watching Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. but, c'mon, who watches Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Age Of Ultron makes clear reference to the events of Captain America: The Winter Solider - where it was revealed that Hydra had infiltrated the American intelligence agency all the way back during the Second World War - with the team taking down Baron Von Strucker's home base, and with the Avengers operating as a separate force. Now it's Cap who's the leader, with Maria Hill in Stark's employ. The Winter Soldier already made it clear that Nick Fury's death was faked so he could drop off the grid, and he's since appeared in episodes of Agents Of SHIELD where he helps the struggling team make sense of the agency's destruction, and gives them plans for bringing SHIELD back from the dead. Because it worked so well the first time. Still, it's a surprise to see Fury show up here again - hiding out in the Barton family barn house, more on which later - to give the team some pointers. And even more surprising when he pops up right at the end, when the Avengers need help evacuating a floating city (long story), using a Helicarrier. How did he find a Helicarrier? How did he fly it and populate it with agents without anybody noticing? Who knows?
