Avengers: Age Of Ultron: 11 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

3. What's Thor's Deal?

Age Of Ultron has to juggle oodles of sub-plots, and it does better with some than others. Part of that's because, ultimately, the amount of screen time each character gets is down to how important each character is to the franchise €“ which ones have solo movies coming up, what actor's contracts say, etc. That means Tony Stark continues to be treated as the most interesting man ever, and Black Widow's harrowing past is glossed over quickly. One of the more undeserved players in the second Avengers film is Thor. His characterisation is all over the place, playfully comparing girlfriends with Stark at one moment, strangling him for creating Ultron the next, and back again almost as quickly. Then he buggers off for half the film. He had a vision or something, courtesy of the Scarlet Witch, and he goes off in search of it. Part of that dream inspires the creation of the actual Vision, but it barely seems like the tip of the iceberg. Thor was having premonitions of the Earth's destruction, but also of Asgard's population doomed to hellfire. What was going on there? And how exactly does he have this vision in detail - what's up with that "dream pool" Selvig leads him to? Not a clue.
