Avengers Age Of Ultron: 10 Outrageous Comic Moments That Won't Be Used

7. Hulk The Robot Circus Clown

In the very first issue of The Avengers in 1963, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby managed to come up with an idea fit to give little kids nightmares for generations. As if Bruce Banner€™s turn as the man-monster Hulk wasn€™t a scary enough concept, Lee and Kirby upped the creepy factor by having the green-skinned behemoth go undercover as a robot circus clown as a way to hide from Avenger members Iron Man and Thor. That€™s right €“ more than 20 years before Stephen King introduced the world to the monstrous clown Pennywise in his novel It, €œRobot Clown Hulk€ had that gimmick first. The best part is the circus owners don't even realise that the Hulk is hiding out among their troop. They are just thankful this gigantic €œrobot€ clown shows up at their door step and is able to juggle some large animals for them. While the scene is clearly meant as a joke, Hulk as a robot circus clown is just too bizarre to ever be adapted for film. Beyond that, a CGI Hulk in clown attire in Avengers: Age of Ultron would be the most terrifying and unsettling thing to ever grace the big screen (pardon the hyperbole).
