Avengers Age Of Ultron: 10 Outrageous Comic Moments That Won't Be Used

8. Capwolf

The 90s were an odd time for Captain America. For the better part of 10 years, the late Mark Greunwald scripted the main Captain America series, and while his longevity is something to be admired, he also managed to produce some of the most ridiculous stories in the character€™s history. One of those stories included a six-part arc where Captain America is transformed into a werewolf. This shocking turn of events is caused by the villains Nightshade and Desmond Druid. Years later, the storyline is still considered a creative low point during an already low period for Captain America comics. While campy stories like these were actually somewhat common during the Golden Age of comics, modern audiences would never be able to accept €œCapwolf€ as anything other than theater of the absurd. Plus, with all of the work Marvel Studios has put into portraying Captain America as an idealized American hero, giving him fangs and a Lassie snout would instantly denigrate and delegitimize the character.
