2. Call Upon The Phalanx

After being physically defeated, a post-credits scene in which it is revealed that Ultron survived as an electronic consciousness would be great (as we already touched upon). What would be even better would be if he had implanted his electronic conscious in to a new body, resigned himself to the fact that he wasn't powerful enough to take over Earth with his own technology, and headed off in to space to call in reinforcements. Cue the Phalanx. In the Marvel comic books, the Phalanx are a powerful species of villainous mechanical aliens that, under Ultron's guidance, sought to take over the universe by infecting their victims with their Transmode Virus, which turned all organic life forms into Phalanx, fully under their control and members of their single minded matrix. It could potentially lead to an "Annihilation: Conquest" influenced movie, in which Ultron could either attack Earth again or set his sights on other planets (characters like Ronan the Accuser were infected by the Phalanx, which could potentially give Ultron and that particular storyline a future on-screen link to the Guardians of the Galaxy - Ultron and the Phalanx versus the Guardians of the Galaxy in the Guardians sequel, anyone?).
