Avengers: Doomsday - Character Breakdown
3. Gambit

2024 really was the year of Gambit wasn't it? From a forgettable appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and having a solo movie stuck in development hell for years, last year saw Remy LeBeau front and center for one of the most powerful moments through the excellent X-Men '97, before Channing Tatum stole the whole show in Deadpool and Wolverine.
That is truly saying something, when you consider he was in there with the returns of Wolverine, Johnny Storm, Elektra (Jennifer Gardner), Blade (Wesley Snipes), and X-23 (Dafne Keen). And yet, he was easily one of the most entertaining parts of the whole thing, and more than deserves a spot on the X-Men roster in Avengers: Doomsday.
Though he was stuck in the Void in his MCU debut, there is no question that Gambit escaped with his life. There was a scene released after the film that showed him survive the battle in Cassandra Nova's (Emma Corrin) compound, and then turn around to the glow of a sling ring portal ready to take him out of the Void.
This scene did actually feature in the film on a TVA screen at the end, which just about makes it canon for this version of the character. Since he in theory had the power to go where and whenever he wanted, it could be this same version of Gambit along with the new X-Men, or it could be another variant. Either way, one thing is for sure, he made a name for himself and then some.
