1. Captain America Dies
The Rumour
Ever since Captain America: Civil War, fans have been convinced that Captain America (Chris Evans) has been living on borrowed time, and after improbably surviving both Civil War and Infinity War, it truly felt like the third time would be the "charm" with Endgame.
Between Cap being long overdue a heroic death and Evans reportedly keen to move on from the MCU, Cap making the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe just felt so, so right.
The Truth
In one of the film's big surprises, Cap not only survives the final battle, but is still very much alive and kicking when Endgame's end credits roll.
Granted, he's now an old man, having travelled back to live out his initial timeline with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), so while he might not be long for this world, he still made it to the finish line.
In effect Steve Rogers and Tony Stark did the opposite of what many fans expected - Stark made the ultimate sacrifice, while Rogers got to settle down and live out his remaining life in peace.
