Avengers: Endgame - 12 Plot Hints From The New Trailer

Oh, boy.

The Super Bowl teaser trailer gave audiences a look at a quick but incredibly emotionally-charged shot of Captain America viciously taking his shield off of his arm. In this new trailer, we get that same shot of the shield with a reaction shot of Cap's bruised face to go along with it.

It may all turn out to be one giant misdirection, as Marvel has become rather infamous for pulling off so well in the past few years, but one cannot help but feel this might be one of Steve Roger's final moments on screen. As mentioned earlier, this film is clearly being set up in the marketing as a swan song for the original six Avengers, many of whom may or may not ever appear in a Marvel film again after this.

And Cap is very much among those characters. At the conclusion of the Infinity Gauntlet comic, Cap comes face-to-face with Thanos in one final showdown and it does not end well. Thanos shatters Captain America's shield and utterly destroys him.

Considering that this visual image has been teased as far back as Age of Ultron, showing shots like this in the trailer makes it feel distinctly like we're about to witness the real thing.
