Avengers: Endgame - 12 Things We Learned From The Digital Extras

3. Gag Reel: Tony Stark Namedrops Howard The Duck (Kinda)

In the aforementioned gag reel, there's also a most unexpected reference to a low-key Avenger, Howard the freaking Duck.

The character of course appeared in both Guardians of the Galaxy movies in cameo form, and also makes a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in Endgame's final battle, totting a machine gun amid the heroic horde.

But another gag was filmed and, unsurprisingly, didn't make it into the final film. When Tony Stark agrees to help the Avengers with their time heist, he asks Cap for reassurance that they're getting the whole team together, before shouting "F***, a duck!"

It's possible Stark was simply uttering the catchphrase without explicitly referring to Howard, but given that he becomes a fully-fledged Avenger in the third act, we're totally going to read it that way.
