Arguably the unsung heroes of the MCU are Marvel Studios' Visual Development Group, a team of artists who are responsible for conceiving all of the costumes and character designs seen throughout the franchise.

Far more than mere concept artists, though, the team liases directly with Kevin Feige and also the directors of any given MCU film, even helping to plan individual shots and hammer out the aesthetic of a given movie.

The Russos have worked with Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding across their MCU films, and confirmed that many of Captain America's most memorable images throughout the franchise were conceived by Meindering and his team, including the iconic elevator sequence from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Despite how instrumental they are in the conception of these movies, though, it's staggering how few fans are even aware of their existence.
