Avengers: Endgame - 13 Best Callbacks To The MCU

The words Avengers and assemble go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Even in the characters' earliest comic incarnations, the catchphrase of "Avengers Assemble!" was practically synonymous with the team itself. So from the moment the MCU began, fans waited with bated breath to see when, who, how, and why the line would be said. The first Avengers film came and went without a character saying it. Age of Ultron teased us with the prospect, cutting to black just as Cap was about to deliver the line.

But now, Endgame has made that wait entirely worth it, as it pays off over a decade-worth of setup and patience in stunning fashion. Once all of the formerly dusted Avengers have returned and take the battlefield, staring down the armies of Thanos and preparing to charge, the camera swooshes across the frontline, closing in on Captain America as he shouts;

"Avengers, assemble."

Recontextualizing the line and using it at such a pivotal point of literal reassembly for the team was a brilliant stroke and generates one of the film's most applause-inducing moments.
