Avengers: Endgame - 13 Best Callbacks To The MCU

In the third act of Endgame, after Iron Man and Thor have both been roundly trounced, Hawkeye is on the run from "space dogs" underneath the rubble of the Avengers facility, and the rest of the team is trapped within said rubble, there is only Captain America left to stand against the armies of Thanos.

And just when it looks as if all hope may be lost, a familiar voice comes crackling through Cap's earpiece saying, "on your left". That voice is none other than Sam Wilson and this is a stellar callback to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In that film, Sam and Steve first meet each other during their early morning jogs in DC, where Sam becomes outraged at the fact that Steve is continuously lapping him and saying "on your left" as he does so. It becomes something of a running gag for that film and for the characters themselves, as Sam even later repeats it to Steve in the hospital as Steve wakes up.

So having this line be the one that heralds the reintroduction of not just Sam but the entirety of all of the previously dusted characters is such an excellent choice.
