Avengers: Endgame - 13 Things It Actually Took From The Comics

11. The Professor

Professor Hulk was far and away one of Endgame's best surprises, and though Bruce Banner's entire arc was logically building to his dual personalities coming together, there was precedent in the comics to back it up.

The typical depiction of the Hulk as giant, indecipherable warpath might be iconic, but it's not always been the case. Open up some of the best Hulk books, and you'll find a much more eloquent version of the not-so-jolly green giant, with the best undoubtedly emerging during Peter David's stint on the character.

David pioneered a new personality for the character referred to as 'The Professor' in Incredible Hulk #377. Although it's not Banner who takes credit for the merging of his personality with that of his other half (the comics also include the added wrinkle of the grey Hulk vying for control), Bruce still achieves his professor persona thanks to some scientific meddling, only this time it's therapy.

Only time will tell as to how long Professor Hulk sticks around, but given he was a definite highlight of Endgame, here's hoping he's in it for the long run.
