17. Fat Thor Is Subtly Foreshadowed Early On

Endgame is a film jam-packed with foreshadowing and sneaky nods to the eventual fates of its characters, but perhaps the subtlest of all is one that most fans surely didn't even notice.

McFeely points out that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is "halfway to being depressed" in his opening scene, where he can be seen drinking beer and snacking on bread, a habit which leads to his massive weight gain five years later.

Anthony Russo added that it was Chris Hemsworth's idea to have Thor eating something in the scene, and though it seems totally harmless upon first viewing, it's clearly a very pointed and calculated decision.
