Avengers: Endgame - 25 WTF Moments

11. The Problem With Pym Particles (And Howard Stark's Can)

In order to shape the drama of the "time heist," the writers specify that because Hank Pym is gone thanks to the snap, Scott Lang only has a limited supply of Pym Particles to allow everyone to shrink to time travel through the Quantum Realm. This is smart as it closes the loop on the audience saying they could just time travel all they wanted and there's literally no peril at all.

Only, there's a little lie wrapped up in Lang's assessment of the particle stock. He says they only have enough particles to travel back in time and forward again one time each with two spares. One of which he uses up accidentally and the other that Clint uses for his test run. Then when Tony and Cap go back in time again to the 70s, they have to retrieve more - Cap picks up four and they use two to return home.

That means there's two unaccounted for. One of them has to have been used to bring Thanos to the future from 2014 (though even that makes no sense - you'll see why soon), so there's only one left.

So how exactly does Ant-Man shrink once when Thanos destroys Avengers HQ and THEN grows to enormous size immediately afterwards. You can't do both with only one particle.

Also, the flowers that Howard is carrying as he heads home to his pregnant wife make sense, but why exactly is he holding a tin of food? Is he a big fan of romantic, long-life food-related gestures?
