Avengers: Endgame - 33 Easter Eggs & References Explained

26. Baby Thanos

During this scene, Rhodey also floats the prospect of just travelling back in time and murdering Thanos as a baby, much to Hulk's disgust.

This is almost certainly a reference to the recent comic Cosmic Ghost Rider #1, where The Punisher, who has been forced to become the Cosmic Ghost Rider by Odin, travels back in time to kill Thanos.

However, Frank Castle finds himself unable to commit the deed and instead decides to raise the lil' Mad Titan, hoping to change his nature. And that he certainly does, with Thanos growing up to become The Punisher himself in this timeline, which can't be good news for anybody.

Whenever you think the MCU is ambitious in its weirdness, read a few comics and remember just how freaking bizarre they truly can be.
