Avengers Endgame: 6 Things You Need To Know About Ronin
3. Clint Could Have Lost His Family To The Snap
Clint was a proud husband and father, the only one of his kind in the Avengers. Why in the heavens then is he running around foreign soil on assassin missions instead of running family life amidst Earth's biggest ever crisis? The answer may be heartrendingly obvious.
After Thanos' snap, Clint may have been the one to suffer the most. We all saw how harrowing Tony Stark's last moments of Infinity War were. What if Clint suffered the same ordeal with not just his wife but all three of his kids? Domestic bliss on Barton's farm may have looked decidedly grim after the clicking of the Mad Titan's fingers.
Barton always had a fairly mercenary and deadpan attitude to life on the Shield-front-line. But in the Endgame trailer he looks visibly and uncharacteristically upset. Surely it's possible then that the Ronin persona represents the prospect of Barton's former self being dead and buried after the trauma of losing his family.
Going into the shadows and taking a more shady path of violence could also be a way for him to hide himself from the reality of his forcibly imposed current status.
