Avengers: Endgame - 8 Biggest Challenges In Ending The Infinity War Story

7. Navigating The Humour

The MCU has become pretty well known for its handling of humour. There isn’t a single title in the 10-year catalogue that doesn’t include some form of comedy at some point in the script, and Infinity War was no different. While the humour was primarily relegated to one-liners and character exchanges in the last Avengers outing, injecting any sort of comedy into Endgame might prove difficult based on the story alone.

Handling humour in the wake of devastation is a delicate balance. Too much, and you make light of the lives lost and the challenges ahead to undo the snap; too little, and you risk losing an element (however divisive) of the MCU that viewers have come to expect.

For the most part, of the characters left that usually provide comedy, it seems that only Paul Rudd’s Ant Man might be capable of spearheading the yuks, as most of the other light-hearted heroes like Thor and Rocket seem fairly broken by the events of Infinity War.

Being an opinionated sort of fellow puts him in a precarious position with friends and strangers, but applying that superpower to the world of writing seems to be doing alright for him.
