3. The Treatment Of PTSD Is BAD

Without spoiling the specifics, let's just say that Thor goes through a major change in this movie thanks specifically to his part in "failing" to stop Thanos at the end of Infinity War. It's the latest in a series of examinations of culpability and PTSD and given how well the MCU has dealt with both to date, you'd think it would be done very well.

But for all of the memeable qualities this new Thor comes with, there's a pretty big, very insistent problem with his character that is partly linked to the disparity between his make-up as a comedy character (on the back of Thor: Ragnarok) and the reverence given to PTSD in this franchise so far.

Look at anything beneath Thor's surface and it feels a little like his mental health (which SHOULD be in tatters given what he's been through) is the butt of the joke. And that's not really on.
