Avengers: Infinity War - 10 Fresh Predictions Based On The Trailers

Many fans have predicted that Thanos could end up on top by the end of Infinity War, and there's plenty of evidence to support such claims. Marketing materials have shown him with a fully-stocked gauntlet and he enjoys a short-lived victory over Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the Infinity Gauntlet comic series.

The movie's two trailers also add fuel to this rumour as everything about them points to the good guys losing emphatically. Tonally speaking, the atmosphere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe feels bleak and there are so many shots of the heroes being pummeled, floored and generally suffering at the hands of the villains.

Taking all of this into account, Infinity War could have an Empire Strikes Back vibe to it, in the sense that it ends with massive setbacks for the forces of good, and a few glimmers of hope to carry over to the next movie, in this case Avengers 4.

Perhaps Infinity War will end with Thanos pulling off his famous 'Snap' trick from the comic books, in which he wiped out half of the universe with a click of his fingers after uniting all of the Infinity Stones in his gauntlet.

Avengers 4 could be the MCU's answer to Return of the Jedi, finding what's left of the heroes redoubling their efforts to take down Thanos at the peak of his power and undo his gauntlet-powered meddling, possibly with the help of time travel.
