Avengers: Infinity War - 13 Big Questions From Everything We Know So Far

3. Who Will Die?

Typically, war brings with it casualties. Although Captain America: Civil War didn't exactly hit the death count people might've expected, with no major characters killed in the conflict, Infinity War should be different (if Marvel are really prepared to kill off their bigger heroes, anyway).

This is setup to be the biggest, most dangerous encounter they've ever faced, and that could mean at least major player biting the dust. As already mentioned, Vision seems the most likely contender, since it's difficult for Thanos to complete the Gauntlet without destroying his head. Nebula and Drax, meanwhile, both have personal issues with Thanos, which could put them in the firing line (though Drax at least is more likely to be back for Guardians 3). Nick Fury doesn't appear to have too much left to do either, so death could bring his arc to a close in Infinity War (though that'd mean his final appearance would be a prequel, Captain Marvel, which could be slightly odd).

Finally, it's widely expected that Chris Evans' time in the MCU will be over soon, and that goes for Robert Downey Jr. too, but a permanent bowing out is more likely to happen in Avengers 4.

Perhaps that, then, will be the ultimate trend of the movie. Lots of characters will die, but, like in the comics, the deaths won't stay permanent. Instead, they'll be a temporary consequence if Thanos is able to get his hands on the Stone, before time gets rewound and they return for Avengers 4, which can then really wrap up the arc of some of those original characters.
