Rumour

When Kevin Feige spoke recently about how Infinity War and Avengers 4 sit with the rest of the MCU he said two very intriguing things: first that the Avengers 4 title was a spoiler for Infinity War, and then that

"...As we get to Infinity War there’s a sense of a climax and if not a conclusion to, by the time we’re at Untitled, the 22 movies that will have encompassed the first three phases of the MCU."

It's hard not to read those statements as confirmation that Infinity War will actually end in that first film, and the second part will be something entirely different.

Rating: 7/10

Surely if Infinity War simply continued into Avengers 4, spoiling the title wouldn't be a thing. This conscious withholding of the title means not only that it's a different story, but also that we would recognise it in some way. Perhaps from a major arc in the comics?

This all harks back to what the Russos said last summer:

"We wanted the movie to be very different and distinctive, you know. There's certainly cross-pollination between characters and some story-arcs, but you know, the first movie is very clearly Avengers: Infinity War and, in time, we will reveal what the second film is."

It all sounds like the "second part" will be an entirely different narrative, which could very easily mean that Thanos won't be the main focus. Perhaps the film deals solely with the fall-out from the War, with him already vanquished?
